Carrie Lincourt is the founder of Community Art Studio and an artist-educator with over 25 years of experience in visual art instruction, curation, and arts administration. She is passionate about making art accessible and meaningful for people of all ages and backgrounds. Since 2018, she has taught private small group classes and worked with students in Los Angeles public schools (LAUSD). Previously, she held roles at institutions including the School of Visual Arts, the Getty, and California State University Long Beach.
Carrie holds an MFA in Art from Cal State Long Beach and a BA in American Studies from UC Santa Cruz. She brings deep expertise in drawing, painting, mixed media, ceramics, and sculpture, and has a particular interest in choice-based art education and incorporating natural and recycled materials into creative practice. She works one-on-one with students to develop portfolios and has experience supporting learners with special needs.
Her own artistic practice is interdisciplinary, spanning drawing, video, performance, and collaboration. Carrie believes deeply in the power of art as a force for social and environmental change. In 2024, she launched Eco/Art Camp at L.A. Ecovillage, the intentional community where she lives with her partner and daughter. She has also recently collaborated with the L.A. chapter of Extinction Rebellion to create art for public actions and demonstrations.
Community Art Studio has regular guest artists who offer workshops and classes in a variety of mediums including process art and hat making.
